The Shelter in Mauritius

The capacity of the shelter is 100 dogs. While about twenty dogs live together, the most physically and emotionally fragile, as well as the puppies, are kept apart in individual enclosures to receive the necessary care and learn the rules of socialization allowing them to integrate the pack in sweetness or be adopted.

Cindy ran the shelter alone for a year. Today, she can count on the help of Malika for the complete management. Anne, Darel and Rosemay are all full-time employees and many volunteers come from all over the world to support them!

Indie today

Playful and cuddly, Indie is 2 1/2 years old. He is proof to all the newcomers at the shelter that the fight is worth it.

This fabulous roadside encounter turns into a love story between a biped and a quadruped. One of those encounters that changes your life forever and makes life meaningful, an incredible adventure is about to begin. That day, the two soul mates meet, the puppy nestles in Cindy’s neck and from then on they will never leave each other. She cares for him, feeds him and simply loves him. While vacationing in Mauritius, Malika tells Cindy “if he makes it, he will be a real Indiana Jones.” His name was chosen – Indie.

if he makes it, he will be a real Indiana Jones.

Saving the life of a puppy, then a dog, then another became Cindy’s daily life. “They all have something special. With all of them, there is a unique connection,” she says. Some dogs are found in miserable, injured or bruised states. Sometimes they are too weak and die, sometimes they regain strength and live. For Cindy, all animals are worth  fighting for and that’s why she created the Indie’s World shelter.
