The Indie's World team
A commitment without borders
Behind Indie’s World, a committed and passionate team mobilizes every day, on the ground in Mauritius and Europe. A team of volunteers and five employees join forces to rescue, care for and offer a future to stray dogs.
They share a unique bond with the animals they protect. Despite their different backgrounds, they all share the same conviction: the unconditional love a dog can offer. A dog is more than a companion, it’s a daily support. Without a word, he feels our emotions, soothes our sorrows and reminds us: “Don’t worry, I’m here, by your side.”
Joining the Indie’s World adventure means making a commitment to animal protection, but also discovering the strength of this bond and the transforming power of a dog’s love.
Before I met Indie, there was Foxy. For 14 years, she was my shadow, my pillar, crossing every stage of my life by my side, from Switzerland to Mauritius. First alone with me, then surrounded by a hundred other dogs, she has always adapted with infinite benevolence, welcoming each new arrival with gentleness.
When Indie arrived, the connection was immediate. Like me, Foxy loved him at first sight. Ever since he was a little boy, she took him under her wing, cleaning him up, teaching him the canine codes, watching over him like a mother watches over her little one.
Foxy wasn’t just a dog, she was my example, my friend, my rock. She felt my emotions, understood me without a word. Even today, she continues to inspire me.
Every dog I save, every hopeful look I meet, reminds me why I fight. They are my source of energy, my strength to move forward despite the fatigue, despite the injustice and cruelty I see all too often.
I’m often told that these dogs were lucky to cross my path… But believe me, I was the lucky one to share their love.

A word from Malika
Barack was the first dog I cared for in Mauritius. Suffering from parvovirus, he was in absolute distress. From the very first moment, a powerful bond was created between us. There’s something indescribable about a rescue: an intense connection, a relationship forged in urgency and hope.
Today, I’m surrounded by rescued dogs, and they’ve taught me so much. They are models of courage, resilience, patience, forgiveness… and so much more.
Thanks to them, I’ve had to learn to manage my emotions in the face of human cruelty, abandonment, suffering and death… but above all, I’ve turned this pain into strength, creating a community committed to change.
Our mission? Raising awareness, educating, passing on good practices. Because every human being should have the chance to discover what it means to share their life with a dog: pure, unconditional, sincere love.

About our employees
Thanks to our team of employees, our dogs have the chance to be surrounded by a real structure, day and night. Nothing is left to chance.
From food preparation to cleaning, from walks to cuddles, from care to rescues, from administrative management to social networking questions, from maintenance to construction.
Our dream team needs reinforcements.
In spite of an efficient team, our shelter is constantly on the move, and we’re always on the lookout for people committed to the animal cause and willing to work with dogs. We would be delighted to receive your CV and motivation by e-mail (info@indiesworld.org) if you would like to work towards a better future for dogs in Mauritius.
